Visit Argentina for Its Wine—But Don't Skip Uruguay

I cannot compete with this AMAZING woman. She writes THE quintessential blog on every fabulous thing about Uruguay. Read her blog instead of mine. ;-)
Here: guruguay.com And follow her on Twitter and Facebook. You'll thank me. twitter.com/GuruGuay1 facebook.com/Guruguay1 I don't know why it took me so long to start this. But well, here we are. This blog will be about everything I love about Uruguay at large - not just Jose Ignacio, as heavenly as it truly is. Because my philosophy is that if you're going to come all this way you should really try to see at least a few of its treasures. Today I've been inspired to begin writing blog entries because of a news story I just saw on Uruguay's Channel 4 in Montevideo (@MonteCarloTV ). The story shows a slice of what it is that I love about Uruguayans. Three friends, Diego, Fernando y Adrián - ages 27, 34 & 28 respectively (tres loquitos or three crazies they admit ;-) have bought, painted and (lightly!) packed a VW van (una 'Kombi' as they call them here) that they've nicknamed 'La mulita viajera' - the little traveling mule. Now they're off on a cross-continent trek to -- Alaska? It's true. They say they are in search of places and people with stories to tell - proclaiming they have neither experience nor knowledge of mechanics(!!!). But just the same they are inspired to set out on this journey for the experiences that await them on the roads of 'America'. You can keep track of their adventure here: mandenyerba.com twitter.com/mandenyerba facebook.com/Manden-Yerba-Blog-de-viaje-549714461872648/ Safe journeys, chicos!!!!
